(LEWES,Del.) - The Department Of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has fined Brumbley's RV Family Park for a broken septic pump. The owner says he didn't know of the problem until DNREC stopped by.
Ralph Brumbley says, "I was told that we have a problem and to get it straighten out."
A neighbor in the r-v park emailed WRDE to give us a heads up that the septic pump had broken. They were concerned that it could leak into the prime hook wildlife refuge.
Today a company came to fix the septic tank, It cost Brumbley a thousand dollars to fix the pump. According to Brumbley, the problem is taken care of.
Brumbley says, "They're happy and we're happy and DNREC was here and they seemed thankful. They realized I did what I could to get it straighten out."
The owner says, he would have gotten to it sooner but the weather was a problem. According to Brumbley, the system had a fail safe to make sure the leak didn't get into the ground. "It pumps into the extra unit up there, so it puts it back into the system, so it doesn't have to hit the ground." He adds, "I did what I could, as soon as I could, with what I have to work with."
WRDE contacted DNREC and They would not tell us how much they fined Brumbley but they say the case is still under investigation.
