Dolle's Candyland Says Goodbye To Boardwalk Location

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- The final day in a historic building that has called the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk home since 1927.

The staff at Dolle’s Candyland served their final requests for popcorn, taffy, and other treats on Rehoboth  Avenue. Some people went out into the snow to take a picture with the sign in the background.

Owner Tom Ibach was a little emotional about the final shift at the boardwalk location, but he says he has great memories that extend beyond the workspace.

“It’s not just a business location because my grandparents lived here,” Ibach said. They lived in the apartment upstairs. So, it’s kind of like your house in a way. I’ve always visited for Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas dinners and things like that upstairs and it was memories of my grandmother and grandfather being in here. So, it’s like I said, it’s not just a business location. It does have a lot of family memories tied into it as well.”

Ibach is in the process of moving items to its new location. The sign is expected to stay in its spot until the end of the year.
