(REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.) - A line of cars made to look like Nascars lined up on the starting line at the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, ready to generate buzz for the upcoming Nascar Weekend at Dover International Speedway.
Lisa Courtney is the Senior Director of Consumer Marketing and Partnership Activation at Dover International Speedway. "We have three races on October 5th, 6th, and 7th. On Friday we have the Crossley 125 Nascar K&N Pro East Series Race and on Saturday we have the Bar Harbor Sea Watch International Nascar Xfinity Series Race, and on Sunday October 7th we have the Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series Race," says Courtney.
Dover International Speedway is working with Carvertise for the first year to promote their upcoming races. Bob Abrams is one of their drivers. "They race in usually May and October of every year. This race is in the playoffs so it's a bigger time of year. You get the drivers that are trying to race their way to the championship," says Abrams.
The cars in this Nascar preview are all similar to the ones that will be seen at race weekend because they're all 4-door sedans. The only difference is the make and model and you can only tell if you look closely. Carvertise's Kia Fortes and Honda Civics look very similar to Nascars Toyota Camrys and Ford Fusions once they're wrapped.
Carvertise is using Delaware's beaches as their race track. The cars take off at the Chamber of Commerce, make a pit stop at Grove Park, and parade through Lewes, Rehoboth, and Dewey. Though they're driving the speed limit and not actually racing, the Nascar look-alikes catch a lot of attention.
"They're so fast and I love going to the races because they're cool. The yellow one is my favorite because my favorite color is yellow," says William Courtney of Lewes.
