SALISBURY, Md - Holloway Hall opened in 1925 as the first building of the Maryland State Normal School. It was the first public institution on the Eastern Shore for the training of teachers. It was a two-year program that the students went through. The building on Camden Ave. was named after the first president William Holloway. It was all encompassing. Under its roof were classrooms, housing, dining hall, gymnasium, auditorium, and administrative offices. It was not until 1950 that more expansion on the campus took place. Along the way there were several name changes. In 1963 it became Salisbury State College. Then in 1988 Salisbury State University and in 2001 the name was updated to Salisbury University.
