The weather along the coast is finally starting to warm up and that can keep anyone busy. For those that may have missed a key story or two, here is your Week In Review:Â
The Food Bank of Delaware is worried after the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) decision to cancel $500 million in food purchases for food banks nationwide. This includes shipments that were destined for Delaware. The Food Bank reported that more than half of the food it distributed last month came from the USDA.
A photo has surfaced showing Delaware State Representative Stell Parker Selby being sworn in at home. Selby, who has missed every vote taken by the legislature this year due to an undisclosed medical issue, remains absent from the General Assembly. It is still unclear when she will return to Dover.
Ocean City officials have announced an increase in parking rates during peak vacation periods. Street and lot parking rates will increase by 50 cents, bringing the new rate to $3.50 per hour. Parking in the inlet lot and near the beach will rise by $1, making the new rate $4.50 per hour compared to last year.
Delaware’s proposed fiscal year 2026 budget was unveiled, outlining a $6.58 billion spending plan that focuses on tax reform, education, affordable housing, and healthcare. Governor Matt Meyer’s proposal introduces three new tax brackets, with officials stating that 92% of Delaware taxpayers will see tax reductions.

The Indian River School District is taking a unique approach to making up snow days. Starting Monday, March 31, the district will extend the school day by 20 minutes to compensate for missed instructional time.
