SELBYVILLE, Del.- After months of staying in, some people are looking forward to getting back into their exercising routines, starting Monday.
Owners of Energy Gym have been getting creative thinking of ways get their facility ready for Phase 1.
"We actually installed UVC lights in our HVAC systems and what that does is actually sanitize the air as it circulates," said co-owner, Gina Hall.
Governor Carney's Phase 1 plan says facilities like gyms should clean and sanitize regularly. To ensure they comply with the 30-percent capacity rule, Energy Gym will allow 30 people in at a time. When someone comes in, they'll get a numbered spray bottle.
"If all 30 bottles are gone, we will not let anybody else in the door until the bottle gets back and then if they are in the car waiting we will call and say okay it's time to come in," said co-owner Tony Hall.
Group fitness classes are allowed during Phase 1. Energy Gym took the seats off every other bike to ensure people are working out at a safe distance.
Practices like social distancing and wearing a face covering are still required. Governor Carney says people should wear a covering unless they're doing strenuous exercise. Even with restrictions, some members say working out is just what people during these changing times.
"We've done all the binge watching we can do, we've eaten too much and drank too much. So it's important mentally and physically for us to get out and get in routine again," said member Terry Griffith.
The Delaware Reopening Plan encourages people to bring their own equipment such as yoga mats and free weights. Energy Gym is even selling mats to make it easier for members. If people do not feel comfortable coming back just yet, they will continue to offer online classes.
"I would say we would be safer here than a grocery store of pharmacy in comparison. The extra measures we've taken is with our members in mind and our staff," said Gina Hall.
