(DOVER, Del.) - The 18th annual "Make a Splash Water festival had over 700 students from all over Delaware interacting with water. Students participated in over 20 hands-on activities learning about the impacts of Delaware water resources and it's historic and current issues.
"I feel happy, I would have been really sad if I had to stay in class all day." said Sophia Ferris.
The students go around from station to station learning something new at each stop. The festival is planned and sponsored by eight different organizations, including the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Volunteers help a student learn interesting facts about how water is used.
"I think the best part about it is seeing the student go through all the activities and hearing them answer the questions they have been asked of them. They have learned it and you can see they have learned something new. That is just the best part of any day I have out here." said Education Director Maggie Paletta.
Sussex County was represented by Dagsboro's Lighthouse Christian School and students had fun while learning.
"I thought it was really fun and I think we used a lot of teamwork." said student Riccara Burbage.
"We learned how to work together as a team and put the fire out." said another student Emily Ho.
