Jogger struck in Lewes

(Lewes, Del) - A teenaged jogger was struck Wednesday morning August 3, 2016 on a back road in Lewes. According to Delaware State Police it happened on Hopkins Road near Beaver Dam Road just after 800 a.m.

Anthony Monaco, 15 of Rehoboth, was jogging with his father southbound on Hopkins Road approaching Beaver Dam Road. Monaco entered into the intersection to run eastbound on SR23, and failed to see a truck being operated by Gary C. Frazier, 31 of Milton, traveling eastbound. The truck struck the teen as he ran in front of it and immediately came to a quick stop.

Anthony Monaco, who was thrown to the ground and was initially flown to Christiana Medical Center before being transferred to A.I. DuPont where he was admitted in stable condition with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Gary Frazier was properly restrained and uninjured in the collision.

The father of Monaco was not injured and was running slightly behind the teen when he was struck.
