Laurel Homicide Investigation Continues

(LAUREL, Del.) - Delaware State Police have been investigating a death in Laurel since a body was found on the side of South Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates at approximately 7:24 a.m. on March 9th.

On March 11th, police confimed that the victim is female and that her death was suspicious. The victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy was performed and the cause and manner of death was determined to be a homicide sustained from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Delaware State Police continues to work with the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to determine the victim's official identity.

Police say there is no immediate concern for the public's safety at this time.
