Lefty's in Lewes Swings into Axe Throwing

LEWES, Del.- Bowling, laser tag and now...axe throwing. Wednesday Lefty's Alley and Eats in Lewes revealed it's new axe throwing suite.

Lefty's had been looking to expand for a while Axe throwing was a dream about 2 years in the making, and the group used the shut down as time to renovate.

"It's like darts on steroids. But honestly the way the game works is a lot like golf in my opinion. It's about technique and finesse, not all about brute force," said D.J. Hill with Lefty's.

The suite has two large, wooden boards. The closer you can throw your axe at the bullseye, the more points you get. But it isn't as easy as it sounds. That's what axe-pert Austin Roberts is for. Roberts works with each group, ensuring everyone is safe, and teaching skills to make sure everyone can hit a bullseye by the end of the reservation.

Tuesday night Governor Carney announced new restrictions on private and public gatherings. But Hill says this will not take away from any of the fun, it will just keep things safer.

"It's 2020 right? So the best we can do is rent this space by the hour for one specific group. It's a private rental space. A minimum of 8 and max of 12, preferably from the same household," said Hill.

Once your group is in the private room, Lefty's says you can unmask. The room is already being reserved for events like bachelorette parties.

You must wear close toed shoes to participate. Anyone 13 and older is able to come, but anyone under 18 must have an adult.

You can make reservations right now by going to Lefty's website.
