LEWES, Del.- Combating anxiety and depression in a unique way. One local woman is using meditation and other practices to teach yoga for mental health.
Stacey Chandler with Involution Yoga is breaking yoga stereotypes.
"20-somethings doing yoga on a yoga mat and twisting themselves into pretzels. But it's really more vast than that. That's a common misconception in the western world," said Chandler.
She uses yoga and other holistic therapies to help unravel emotional, psychological, and physical trauma in the body.
"We focus on all five layers of the self, not just mental and emotional but the energetic body, the wisdom body, and the soul body," said Chandler.
Chandler sits with you one-on-one to mediate and heal the entire body and mind.
"Unless you're presenting with something right away like anxiety or depression we would remedy that through meditation. If you're looking for that deeper connection we do meditation which takes you through all five layers and see what comes up from there," said Chandler.
With the current state of the world, she is seeing more people benefit from her practices.
"Even if we aren't directly effected from this pandemic, we are indirectly. Looking for toilet paper, making sure we have our mask. We are under constant stressors," said Chandler.
She says this type of therapy is for everyone. With such a strange year, everyone can use a little peace and meditation.
