Luke Campbell Is Looking Ahead To Next Summer Games

(SALISBURY, MD.) -Luke Campbell is the most decorated track and field athlete in Division III history. As a sophomore at Salisbury University Campbell developed a desire to be an Olympian. Now, Campbell works seven days a week, two hours everyday to prepare him for his biggest challenge.

"I go into it thinking I will get better and I put a 100 percent in it and so if anything is off I feel like I have to go back and sometimes repetition is always not the best thing but I am really hard on myself,"said Campbell.

His track and field coach at Salisbury University,Jim Jones, said Campbell was hoping to be in this year's games in RIO. Campbell would have run for Germany but he had an issue.

"We did not get his paperwork in time for the German Federation and his father met his mother when they were stationed in Germany so he has dual citizenship,"said Jones

Jones said Campbell would have been a lock for the German team because of his speed.

"Looking at the times that were posted at the National Championships and Luke would have well have been in the top three and that would have moved him on to the Olympic games,"said Jones.

After his time with Jones Campbell will go to Europe to continue his journey.

"Next year the world championships are in London so that would be the most ideal thing to compare myself to the other athletes that I am up against,"said Campbell.

Campbell's mission is to have success so he can be on the big stage in four years in Tokyo.
