Mid South Audio Opens New Facility in Milton

MILTON, Del.-A big day for Mid South Audio. Along with celebrating its 31st anniversary, the sound and production company cut the ribbon at its new facility in Milton Wednesday.

After out growing out of their facility in Georgetown, the company needed to make more space for more projects, more artists, and of course more music. The new facility on RT. 16 in Milton holds a state of the art show room, recording studios, and new office space.

"We have never had a show room. Never had a space where someone could come in and touch things and learn about it so we are really excited about that," said owner and CEO Kevin Short.

The new studios are environmentally friendly. Behind the walls is sound absorbent material. Instead of being made of fiber glass, it's made from recycled blue jeans.

"They can certainly make some great records in this room. It sure sounds great and it's a beautiful facility so I look forward to seeing what comes out of here," said Bruce Bouton, a musician from Nashville.

Short says musicians visiting Milton will be common trend from now on, both locally and beyond.

"We'll be bringing people in from all over the country to record. Actually we have some international groups coming to the studio so when the restrictions are lifted we will have some albums from that," said Short.

Not just growing in building space, but projects. Short says it's not just about audio anymore but production, staging, and lighting as well. While it's no music capital just yet, Short knows Milton is the perfect place to expand the arts.
