MILLSBORO, Del.- The Optimist Club at Millsboro Middle School collected items and raised two hundred dollars for Sussex Crisis Community Housing Services over the winter.
The donations were made mainly from concession sales at middle school basketball games. The check was presented to Director Marie Marole at the school today. Club advisor Shelley McBride says assisting the shelter was the members' idea.
"After a lot of discussion and brainstorming, we felt that a lot of people are struggling right now because of the pandemic," McBride said. "So why not help a local homeless shelter."
The middle school's optimist club is the only junior organization of its kind in Sussex County with the goal of completing community service.
