New Pole Family Installed on Route 9

LEWES, Del. - A new Pole Family dressed as the Addams Family has been installed on Route 9, just a week after the original pole people were destroyed in a hit and run.

Josh Stevenson is the man behind the new family. His wife, Mandie Stevenson, owner of Mandie's Magical Marketplace shared the news on Facebook.

"I decided to do this because I saw all the attention on social media. Everyone was very upset at the loss of the pole family. So I thought, this needs to come back as soon as possible. It's in good fun and the community really enjoys it, and it's a fun thing for the locals," said Stevenson.

Stevenson said last year his family dressed as the Addams Family, which inspired the pole people's latest costume.

"I had to make the mannequins. It actually took two attempts. I had made them out of plywood in the first attempt, I threw that all away and changed it to foam and plastic. I will say if there's any maintenance required or the mannequin is damaged I will be glad to repair the mannequin and replace it as quick as I can," he said.

Stevenson says the original pole inventor moved to New Jersey earlier this year. He hopes the community will come out and make the changes to the pole people and keep it fun.

He is also waiting on a response from DelDOT, who will decide if the new family will stay or go.
