Newark Area Restaurant Fire causes $25,000 Damager

(Newark, Del) The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office has determined that Saturday's fire in a Newark shopping center was accidental. The blaze was reported shortly after 10:00 am at the Tandoori Restaurant in the Meadowood Shopping Center. The Mill Creek Fire Company responded to the fire. They were assisted by neighboring fire companies.

The fire began in a faulty kerosene heater that was being used in the building which was not open to the public. The kerosene heater burst into flames and spread the fire as it was being moved outside. Damage was estimated at $25,000. There were no reported injuries.
