Bethany Beach Police Report Rise in Package Thefts: Authorities urge residents to be vigilant as "porch pirate" thefts increase.

BETHANY BEACH, Del. - Police in Bethany Beach are reporting a rise in package thefts from doorsteps. Law enforcement officials say they’ve seen an increase in so-called "porch pirate" incidents in recent weeks, with thieves targeting unattended deliveries in neighborhoods across Bethany Beach.

The Bethany Beach Police Department is asking locals to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. Officers recommend several steps to protect yourself and your packages, including:

  • Trying to be home for deliveries
  • Requiring signatures for packages
  • Using tracking services to monitor expected deliveries

If you see suspicious behavior or believe a crime is occurring, police advise calling local law enforcement immediately.
