MARDELA SPRINGS, Md.- A 13-year-old student is facing charges after bringing a handgun to school.
Wicomico County sheriffs say a 9mm handgun was found in the student’s backpack, though it was not loaded nor was any ammunition found. After the student was removed from school, the Department of Juvenile Services ordered the 13-year-old boy to be held pending his Juvenile Court appearance.
Sheriffs say the issue was resolved quickly and there is no known threat to the school at this time. The student has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by Minor and a count of Disturb School Operations.
