Ophelia radar

A cell of heavy rain hit southern Delaware Saturday morning and worked its way north. More cells are developing throughout the day.

DELMARVA - The latest on Ophelia is that it's a tropical storm and moving north at approximately 13 mph. The storm is sustaining winds at 50 mph with occasional gusts up to 65 mph.

The path forecast hasn't changed much and the storm is expected to continue on its previous path.

We're expecting Ophelia to move into our area by 8 a.m. Sunday. By then, the storm will still be a tropical depression, with winds at 35 mph.

The outer bands of Ophelia were hitting parts of Delmarva Saturday morning.

As far as rainfalls are concerned, we've had some impressive rainfall so far. Totals are approaching 3 inches in areas around Dagsboro. Delmar and Harbeson have had over 2 inches of rain.

Heavy showers hit Rehoboth Beach and other coastal towns farther south in the late morning on Saturday and were moving north into Houston just before noon.

Ophelia wind gusts

Winds have hit 64 mph in Lewes and 58 mph in Dewey Beach. At the Indian River Inlet, gusts have reached 63 mph and Bethany Beach has also seen some high numbers, with gusts at 50 mph.
