Nourishing Minds and Bodies, Freeman Arts Pavilion Kicks Off New Arts Initiative

SELBYVILLE, Del.- Nourishing minds and bodies. The Freeman Arts Pavilion is partnering with schools for its Arts Access Initiative.

The organization is providing thousands of students with Creative Nourishment Kits. There are four different kits designed for students in kindergarten up to grade 12. The goal is to keep students busy and creative after so much time indoors and in front of screens.

"These hybrid learning systems are very stressful, not only for students but for teachers and parents as well, so this is a creative outlet," said executive director of the Joshua M. Foundation, Patti Grimes.

Each kit comes with instructions in both Spanish and English, and all the necessary supplies to complete the craft. They also come with string so you can hang up the masterpiece when it's finished.

Right now the Cape Henlopen, Milford, Indian River, and Seaford school districts have signed up to get art kits. The Milford school district even created an online gallery to view its students final projects.

Along with delivering to schools, 3,600 bags will be delivered to the Food Bank of Delaware.

"So that under served families who have food insecurity will be able to be nourished by the arts as well," said Grimes.

Boxes are already getting delivered to schools. By the end of March over 21-thousand students will have been given an art kit.
