DEWEY BEACH, Del.- Get out your photo albums and start scrolling through your camera roll. Happening right now is the Lighthouse Through the Decades photo contest.
If you have a photo of the old Dewey Beach lighthouse you could submit it for the chance to be a big winner.
"It's a symbol of Dewey Beach. Dewey Beach wasn't incorporated until 1981 and the lighthouse came right before that. It's synonymous with Dewey's history," said Ryan Kennedy, vice president of the Lighthouse Cove Development Company.
The Dewey Beach lighthouse that once stood tall, is now a pile of rubble. This past April an arsonist set it on fire. But the Lighthouse Cove Development Company is doing its' part to keep its memory alive.
"It was such an icon for the town of Dewey Beach as well as our property. It went away unexpectedly and we thought what better way to celebrate the history," said Kennedy.

Each week, people will submit photos of the lighthouse from a different decade for a small prize. By the end of the contest, one photo will be chosen and the photographer will win two tickets to this year's Dewey Winter Gala and a free stay at the Hyatt Place hotel.
Even if your photo isn't chosen, each submission is helping local artists in the community. The Lighthouse Cove Development Company is donating 5-dollars from each picture to the Developing Artist Collaboration.
"By the time the contest is over we hope we can hand over a check of 3-thousand to 4-thousand dollars to DAC. They are an awesome, grass roots, non-profit to support, especially since there is an art angle to this," said Kennedy.
All photos will be on display at this years Winter Gala. The grand prize photo will be hung permanently, to celebrate the artist and remember the lighthouse legacy.
Each person can submit a maximum of five photos. Submissions are open now until August 14. See here to learn how to submit.
