(HARRINGTON, Del.) - Harrington police have arrested one suspect in the armed robbery of a liquor store while continuing to search for a missing accomplice.
On Tuesday officers arrested 18-year old Shaiheme D. Edwards in connection to the Bridle Bit liquor store robbery that occurred on July 29. That day officers on patrol arrived at the scene and determined that two suspects entered the store, wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered and confronted store employees. One of the suspects displayed a handgun. The suspects then fled with alcohol and undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers searched the area and conducted a K-9 Track but were unable to locate the suspects. Officers then continued to investigate the robbery and during the course of the investigation obtained information linking Edwards to the robbery. A search warrant was executed and officers found Edwards hiding under a bed inside a residence. Police then took him into custody without incident.
Police also executed another search warrant at another residence in Harrington and took a second person of interest into custody. That person was questioned and later released without being charged.
Edwards was taken to the Harrington Police Department and was questioned and then processed. Edwards was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony, Conspiracy Second Degree, Offensive Touching and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $62,500 secured bail.
