SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- A warning sign for the possibility of white flakes and bitterly cold temperatures. Delawareans should prepare for the winter weather slated to arrive this weekend.
As the pandemic continues to shadow over all health issues, the flu has not gone away. However, according to the CDC, flu cases nationwide are at historic lows.
Dr. John Fink of Bayhealth says those that may be out shoveling or working this weekend need to make sure they take important steps to stay healthy.
"Bundling up with layers is very important," Dr. Fink said. "Staying dry is important. Making sure you are well hydrated is important. Warming up quickly when you get inside. All of those things. If you are outside and exerting yourself that you use extra caution when doing so in the cold."
DelDOT held a weather meeting this morning to put a plan together. Community Relations Director C.R. McLeod says they always prepare for the worst with any storm which means crews will be visible and working throughout the majority of the weekend.
"We will be able to figure out, ok, this is what time we need to have crews come in and really have our plows deployed to areas," McLeod said. "So, if we are going to see snow start at a certain time, we usually will strategically place plows out loaded with salt so they can begin treating the roads and plowing as needed."
It may not be a blizzard coming, but caution still needs to be taken whether out in the cold or on the roads.
