Rehoboth Art League Live Outdoor Show Returns After Being Virtual In 2020

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Last year, the Rehoboth Art League’s Outdoor Show was all virtual because of COVID-19 eliminating the live aspect of the event.

On Saturday visitors were walking around and taking in all of the creations. A sight that Executive Director Sara Ganter, her staff, and artists who brought their work are excited to see.

"Everybody that’s showed up today is saying how much they’re glad that we’re back in action," Ganter said. "Last year, we did a virtual show because of everything going on but to have a live event is very important especially for the artists to rely on their sales to make a living."

There are over 100 artists that have come as far north as Vermont and as far south as Florida. Exhibitionist Director Nick Serratore says you find everything from oil paintings to woodwork to glass pieces and everything in between.

"It’s not too repetitious," Serratore said. "You’ve got everything from again it’s a fine art and fine craft show. So all mediums are represented as far as the fine art and all of the three dimensional materials used."

One of the unique concepts you can see at the show is from Kim Klabe of Rehoboth Beach who starts a painting by pouring red wine or dark beer and comes up with an idea based on the lines created.

"I follow the lines to create the object and then use alcohol-based markers and colored pencil to tint the beer or the wine," Klabe said. "And then when it is all done it gets several coats of archival spray varnish to protect it."

The Outdoor Show runs on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be back next weekend. There is a $5 admission fee that goes towards the exhibits and education provided by the art league.

A show that tourists and art enthusiasts look forward to annually with the face to face interaction making the experience even more enjoyable.
