REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Rehoboth in Bloom wasted no time, early Monday morning, getting out with the old and in with the new.
A large group of volunteers took flowers and plants out of the many planters along Rehoboth Avenue, and replaced them with plants more fit for the winter. Some planters hold decorative tree, made of artificial ivy, grapevine, and topped with a festive bow.
The group stayed busy all spring and summer, especially with the 98 planters on Rehoboth Avenue. Rehoboth Main Street raised 17-thousand dollars for pedestrian planters in an effort to beautify downtown after the city put up red barriers. The barriers will be removed this Wednesday so Rehoboth Main Street is donating the planters to Rehoboth in Bloom to continue planting around downtown.
"It helped with all the wonderful outdoor dining which we are hoping will continue on, and the vibrancy on the street with people coming up and back," said Greer Maneval with Rehoboth Beach Main Street.
Restaurants and businesses appreciated that the flowers created a more welcome walkway between the barriers.
Rehoboth in Bloom already has more projects, and project ideas, in the works. While the winter brings a lot of downtime for the volunteers, you can still donate or sign up to volunteer.
