Ruth Briggs King

Ruth Briggs King announced her resignation from the Delaware House of Representatives in November 2023. The Republican had represented the 37th District until moving into a new home that was in the neighboring 35th District.

She began her career in the General Assembly by winning a 2009 special election to replace Joseph Booth in District 37. She won re-election each time including running unopposed in her final three (2018, 2020, 2022).

Briggs King was born in Milford and would graduate from Sussex Central High School. She earned an Associates Degree in Medical Technology from Delaware Technical Community College. She then earned a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Human Resources from Wilmington College. Briggs King taught at Polytech High School for six years.
