"S Curve" Crash Claims The Life of a Princess Anne Woman

(SALISBURY, MD)- An early morning motor vehicle crash claimed the life of a 55 year female resident of Princess Anne, Maryland.

The deceased driver has been identified as Regina Tyrell Burnette, 55 years of age, of Princess Anne, Maryland. At the time of the crash, Burnette was determined to be the only occupant of the vehicle. Burnette was transported from the scene to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where she received medical care throughout the day on Tuesday. As a result of the life-threatening injuries that were sustained at the time of the crash, Burnette was pronounced deceased late Tuesday evening.

Further investigation revealed that on March 05, 2019, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Salisbury Police officers responded to the intersection of S. Salisbury Boulevard (Rt. 13) and S. Division Street for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a single vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and located a silver 2006 Cadillac that was flipped over and resting on the railroad tracks. The driver who was later identified as Regina Tyrell Burnette was found to be trapped inside the vehicle. Salisbury EMS responded and removed Burnette from the vehicle while beginning the necessary medical treatment on the scene. Burnette was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for further treatment where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. Burnette's body has been transported to the State Medical Examiners Office where an autopsy will be completed to determine the cause and manner of death.

As the initial investigation unfolded, it was determined that Burnette was traveling northbound on Rt. 13 at the intersection of S. Division Street. For unknown reasons at this time, Burnette failed to negotiate the left-hand curve of the road and ultimately struck a curb and a telephone pole at that intersection. Burnette's vehicle flipped over at the time of the collision and came to a rest on the railroad tracks. Maryland State Police Reconstruction Team was contacted and responded to conduct the reconstruction of the crash scene.

The investigation is on-going and the Salisbury Police Department along with the Maryland State Police are working to determine the cause of the crash. We are asking anyone traveling on Rt. 13 near the intersection of S. Division Street (S-Curve) yesterday morning between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and may have witnessed the crash to contact Salisbury Police Department at (833)SBY-CITY.
