Salisbury University Celebrates Earth Week

(SALISBURY, Del.)- Students at Salisbury University gave Earth Day more than just a one day celebration, they gave it a week.

The university's Earth Week kicked off with a tour of the campus, showcasing environmentally friendly buildings. It will end with a competition to see who can collect the most recyclable items. But today's event was about getting students involved.

"Well since today is Earth Day and we're celebrating by having eco-conscious groups come out and show what sustanibility is all about," said Adam Phipps-Dickerson, VP of sustainability. "And Salisbury University is a very sustainable campus."

In 2007, the president of the university signed the climate commitment. It was an agreement to improve the campus' energy consumption. They have buildings on campus that were built environmentally friendly, use lower amounts of energy, and water consumption.
