Santa's House Making Christmas Merry For Needy Families

Santa's House Making Christmas Merry For Needy Families

(SHOWELL, Md.) - It's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the "Guiding Hands Assisted Living" facility in Berlin. That's according to the smile on Shirley Wilkerson's face.

It was made possible by lee Holloway and his Santa's House organization.

"It makes us feel good, especially when you see the smile on their face," said Holloway. "It just lightens them."

"Makes you have a better Christmas," said Wilkerson.

"You know somebody out there really cares and spends time for you, and puts a lot of time and work in this."

Holloway and Santa's House have helped struggling families for more than 30 years.

Today the giving began here at this Showell fire house.

Needy parents wrapped around the building to pick up bags of toys selected right from their children's wish list.

That included Rebecca Keithly who recently took in three grandchildren to live with her.

"They would have had hardly anything if it weren't for this. We just don't have the money."

And while Christmas isn't all about gifts she says "I can't wait to go home and see what they've gotten. They are going to be thrilled. They are the best kids. This is their Christmas because they haven't got many other things besides what we got from here.

"It takes a lot time to get together to make sure it's a good product," said Holloway.

Bags of toys -- signifying what this time of year is all about -- giving back right from Santa's House.

Santa's House needs the public's help. They're current location is set to be renovated, so they're looking for a new one so they keep up their longstanding tradition of providing a truly merry Christmas. If you can help email Santa's House at: Santahouseinc@gmail.com.
