MILFORD, Del. -Â Milford residents have a big vote coming up and it will determine the future of Milford Middle School. School leaders are hoping the Milford community will vote "yes" this upcoming October 27th and most importantly they're working on getting the growing Hispanic community to participate.
Milford Middle School has been closed for nearly 6 years due to health and safety concerns and the school hopes to change that soon. WRDE spoke with school board member Rony Baltazar-Lopez who is hosting an information session in Spanish to ensure all community members are involved.
"People will be able to understand the finances as well as the reasonings why we need to renovate and revitalize the former middle school which has been sitting vacant on Lake View Avenue for years. We just want to be able to create equity in terms of sharing that information," explained Baltazar-Lopez.
The information session is taking place Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Lulu Ross Elementary School. More information on the referendum can be found by clicking here: https://milfordschooldistrict.org/referendum
