Though bald eagles were on the verge of extinction during the mid-twentieth century, they haven't been endangered since 2007 and their numbers have been increasing in Delaware in recent years.

Federal investigators are seeking public assistance after a bald eagle was shot in Clayton in November. Discovered injured at the Blackbird State Forest Dulany Manor Tract, the adult eagle had bullet fragments in its neck and wing. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward for information.
