Delaware lifeguards aren’t just keeping swimmers safe, they’re also proving they’re some of the best in the country.

The Sussex County Lifesaving Association won its first United States Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championship, becoming the first team to win the competition other than teams from California or New Jersey.

After various community meetings and surveys, DNREC proposed user fees for Deauville Beach have been approved. A daily entrance fee or an annual pass will be required to use the beach from Memorial Day weekend though Nov. 30 in 2024. DNREC says Deauville Beach annual passes will be available for sale starting Wednesday, May 15.
