A teacher at Mariner Middle School has filed a civil rights complaint against the Cape Henlopen School District, alleging discrimination against multilingual learners and their families.

In an effort to recruit candidates from the local community, the Cape Henlopen School District is set to host a job fair on Friday, March 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cape Henlopen High School cafeteria.

The Cape Henlopen School District has experienced a notable increase in students who speak a variety of languages, including Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, and Spanish, and to best serve those students, the district has added a handful of multilingual learner professionals.

Members of the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation gathered Wednesday morning to pack over 300 backpacks with school supplies for students in the district as part of their Caravan of Caring initiative, which is taking a slightly different approach this year.

Cape Henlopen School District has announced the names and posts of their new constables for the 2023-24 school year.

A bill introduced by Sen. Russ Huxtable from Milton that would clarify a balance between development and the interests of the greater public passed the Delaware Senate on Tuesday unanimously with an amendment.

The park says the closures are to allow for repairs that will help to improve the park in preparation for the summer.

"We have been working so hard," shared student and theatre member Ella Godbout. "It was nice to get that acknowledgement from the governor."

This is part of a lead water testing initiative that was launched in the state in December 2022.
