Avelo Airlines announced it will close its base at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on Jan. 27, ending its involvement in the Department of Homeland Security’s deportation charter program, which the airline says failed to deliver long-term financial sustainability.
A federal jury has convicted Clifton H. Gibbs, 68, of Lewes on multiple counts of sex trafficking and forced labor, following a seven-day trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
The Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security has announced Sean Moriarty as executive director of the new Police Officer Standards and Training Commission. This commission is a new division within the department, created in August when House Bill 206 was signed into law to replace the Delaware Council on Police Training.
The indictment alleges that Clifton Gibbs and Brooke Waters recruited, harbored, transported, and obtained labor from and compelled victims to engage in commercial sex acts under the threat that they would suffer serious harm if they did not comply.
