An $8.1 million project is set to bring fresh sand to the north shore of the Indian River Inlet as part of a dredging and beach replenishment effort led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company.

DNREC told CoastTV "the Department knows that, with the impacts of climate change creating more frequent, severe storm and dangerous conditions, unless more resources are committed for taking it on, the situation at the dune, beach and Route 1 north of the Indian River Bridge will become more dire."
