Denny Hamlin won at Las Vegas to put a tough offseason behind him. Hamlin raced to his 61st NASCAR Cup Series victory, fighting back from an early speeding penalty to a dominant win for Joe Gibbs Racing. The victory ends a long hangover after he lost the championship at Phoenix last year. Hamlin also is coming off a turbulent stretch in which he won a federal lawsuit against NASCAR, and then his father died in a house fire. The win was the fourth through five races this season for Toyota. JGR drivers Christopher Bell and Ty Gibbs finished fourth and fifth.
