DNREC invited photographers of all ages and backgrounds to submit standout images that capture the state’s natural beauty. A panel of judges scored entries based on visual effectiveness, originality, universal appeal and thematic relevance.
Sharon Denny won Best in Show in the Friends of Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge Nature Photography Contest with her photo titled "Breakfast to Go," capturing a snowy egret in flight during a feeding frenzy. The contest showcased over 200 photographs from 38 photographers, with winners commended for their ability to evoke emotional responses and tell stories through their images.
Photographers can choose from categories based on age or subject like Delmarva scenery, native birds, plants and flowers, the beauty of Prime Hook, and more. Submissions will be judged by professional photographers and winners will be announced at a public reception. Some will receive cash prizes.
