Organizations supporting Black women and girls in the American South are receiving a boost this summer. The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium is granting $350,000 to community organizations across thirteen states. These grants will help address challenges like maternal health, gender-based violence prevention, and educational support. This comes as many organizations face funding challenges following the Trump administration's crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion policies. The grants coincide with the “Joy and Justice” tour, featuring community activities and festivals in nine cities. Leaders emphasize the importance of supporting Black women, who have long faced discrimination and marginalization.
