Delaware will officially begin legal adult-use marijuana sales on Aug. 1, marking a major milestone in the state’s cannabis legalization efforts.
The application process for all areas of recreational marijuana businesses in Delaware opens on Monday, August 19. 41 of the licenses are set aside for Sussex County applicants.
Recreational marijuana has been legal in Delaware since April 23rd, 2023 but the rules and regulations governing the business of pot are still being ironed out. Thursday The Office of Marijuana Commissioner (OMC) announced that it will begin accepting online applications for marijuana licenses starting this month.
Social Equity licenses are one of the business licenses created when Delaware legalized marijuana.
The OMC, tasked with implementing the Marijuana Control Act in Delaware, unveiled the Social Equity Eligibility Validation Application and the Disproportionately Impacted Areas (DIA) Map.
According to the Office of the Marijuana Commissioner, social equity licenses will be issued as well as microbusiness licenses and open licenses
The Maryland Cannabis Administration announced Tuesday that a lottery for social equity applicants will take place on March 14.
