Hotter and increasingly humid conditions will then settle across the region through the weekend, when heat index values may reach or exceed 100 degrees.

Cloudy skies with occasional drizzle will persist this afternoon, clearing briefly tonight before low clouds and fog return, with temperatures mainly in the 50s.
