Maryland’s public schools continue to show steady progress for the third consecutive year. The report highlights statewide data showing increases in academic achievement, English language proficiency, and graduation rates.

The 2025-2026 school year is underway, and Delaware is still working to fill hundreds of teacher vacancies. 

In a recent survey, more than 1,000 Delaware public educators reported concerns over student behavioral challenges, with three in five expressing a likelihood of early retirement or leaving the profession.

Delaware officials aim to tackle the educator shortage with two new bills headed for the House of Representatives. These potential new rules hope to attract a diverse and qualified group of candidates to the first state.
