Scrapyard worker Adam Bowman dove for cover as explosions and fires erupted without warning after a UPS cargo plane crashed after takeoff in Kentucky. His horrors were just starting, as they were for his co-workers and customers at Grade A Auto Parts & Recycling in Louisville. The crash last week killed 14 people and sparked a devastating ripple effect, striking and causing blasts at other businesses. Back on his feet and scrambling for survival, Bowman heard someone cry for help. He spotted a badly burned man unable to flee. Bowman carried the man piggyback away from danger, but the man later died. It was among the acts of heroism that evening.
