Shop With A Cop

(BERLIN, Md.)- For the third year in a row the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack held "Shop with a Cop" on Saturday.

25 kids and 25 state troopers paired together to go on a $100 shopping spree at Walmart.

Some of the kids knew exactly what they wanted before they got there whereas others took some time to scoop around.

Each child is selected by the Worcester County Board of Education and the funds are donated by the Cricket Center and the Walmart Foundation.

The troopers who participated volunteered their time.

"When they get this money, the $100 dollars, they have big hearts and their always willing to buy for their families and that's what is quite impressive to see," said Trooper Scott Sears.

Heydon Elsner decided to use his $100 to buy gifts for his siblings and himself:

"I got a blanket for everybody, an Olaf doll for my sister, Lego's for my brother, and I got some sports stuff for myself."

After each kid checked out of Walmart with their items they boarded the bus back to the Berlin Barrack for pizza and gift wrapping.
