SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- A day of drinks, food, and music! This September the Southern Delaware Wine, Food, and Music Festival is back.
"A total day of indulgence. We have the best food, wines, craft beers, cocktails. Great music and entertainment with the chef throw down," said Stacy LaMotta, founder of the festival.
Every year the festival picks two non-profits or organizations to be beneficiaries of the event. This year one of them is the Developing Artist Collaboration who are hoping to use the funds to create a one thousand square foot mural on the wall next to the Dirty Hands DIY Studio in West Rehoboth Beach.
"It's going to be honoring the west Rehoboth community that we are so lucky to be a part of. Essentially it's going to depict the culture and history that's here. The purpose of this is to make this a destination for locals and tourists to get information about the history and culture of west Rehoboth," said Leah Beach, founder of Developing Artist Collaboration.
The second beneficiary is the Delaware Restaurant Association with proceeds going to the DEEats fund.
"For those in our industry and that find our industry as a home, who fall on hard times. Maybe they've been in an accident, they're sick, or their family is in need, this will go towards a cares type fund that will give money or scholarship or grants to those falling on hard times," said Carrie Leishman with the Delaware Restaurant Association.
Making a difference, while making memories. One of the biggest events at the festival is the Chef Throwdown.
"None of the chefs will know what they'll be cooking with. We'll have a small pantry of ingredients to use. They can't talk to each other. There will be two teams, each team member has a certain amount of time. The other has to read their mind or just be very creative," said LaMotta.
The festival kicks off September 18. Tickets go on sale June 15 at 8 a.m.Â
