SALISBURY, MD -- The Kent Island Buccaneer Girls' Basketball team capped off an unbelievable regular season with a 49-22 victory over Queen Anne's County earlier tonight; securing a 20-0 undefeated season.
Both defenses made themselves prevalent in the opening quarter, as both teams combined for only eight points in the first due to some high pressure defense.
The scoring picked up in the second quarter, however, as Kent Island built a double-digit lead thanks to some big threes from Allison Corbin and Alivia Hanesworth. The Bucs defense stood strong as well, as they took a 21-point lead into the half and never looked back.
This was the final game for both team's regular seasons, as Queen Anne's finishes the year at a strong 12-7 record despite the loss.
For Kent Island, they will now carry over their perfect record into postseason play - beginning with the Bayside Championship against Stephen Decatur next Tuesday at the Wicomico Civic Center at 6:00 pm. Regardless of that result, they will be the number one seed heading into the Maryland State Playoffs which begin next weekend.
