Montreal re-signed Ivan Demidov to an eight-year, $73 million contract after his standout rookie season. The Los Angeles Kings signed forwards Erik Haula and Mats Zuccarello, while Chicago signed defenseman Ian Cole. Pittsburgh acquired Nick Robertson from Toronto, and Nashville traded for Mavrik Bourque and Ilya Lyubushkin. Florida has been active, trading for goalies and bringing back Radko Gudas.
