State Agencies' Coronavirus Prevention and Safety Efforts

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Delaware's state agencies are offering coronavirus prevention and online safety tips for people in the community.

The Delaware Division of Public Health opened a coronavirus call center. The number for the call center is 1-866-408-1899. The call center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. DPH says hours may be adjusted to accommodate for peak volume.

DPH Director, Karyl Rattay, says, "the call center will have trained staff to answer many questions, or will connect individuals with our epidemiologists for more in-depth questions."

Secretary of the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kara Odom Walker, reminds the public that, "the risk for the average Delawarean and the average American remains low, and the public health response in Delaware and our country is aggressive."

The Delaware Department of Justice is warning consumers and investors of coronavirus-related scammers, saying con artists profit off of fear and uncertainty. The DOJ says some of these scams include spam emails pretending to be from the CDC, online vaccination offers, or crowdfunding campaigns for fake coronavirus victims. Other scams are social media posts that have misinformation about coronavirus cases in Delaware, or unproven treatments, as there's no cure currently.

The Division of Public Health says it will continue its outreach efforts to care facilities, schools, and healthcare providers to make sure they are fully informed.

The agency says it's increasing its outreach to the business community next week.
