(SALISBURY, Md.) - The Maryland State Police is sponsoring a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training Monday night from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury.
The training is free to the public and all are welcome to come out for an evening of learning and preparation. Police plan to help people increase their chances of surviving an active shooter event or other critical incidents.
The CRASE training is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University (ALERRT) in 2004, and provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, psychological and physiological responses to critical incidents, civilian response options, medical issues, and the role of professional guardians.
