(SELBYVILLE, Del.) -Families that are in need do not go hungry around Thanksgiving thanks to Mountaire's Thanksgiving for Thousands event. On Monday volunteers at Mountaire's Selbyville Warehouse packed 8,500 boxes for needy families. For 24 years, Mountaire Farms has been providing Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate families across Delmarva. Roger Marino is the Community Relations Director for Mountaire Farms.
"We have come across those in need," said Marino."We had one woman that
says my husband has not worked in nine years and I have been on disability for seven and I am really ashamed to ask you for a box," said Marino."I said no problem."
The package includes a complete Thanksgiving dinner for a family. Inside the box is a huge Mountaire Farms chicken roaster, corn, string beans, yams, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix and brownie mix for dessert.
"Actually, we look at Thanksgiving for the Thousands as the kick off to the holiday season," said Marino.
