REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Making stops occasionally in the downtown area. Biden has been seen all over the city, at places like Egg, Browseabout Books and even on some of the trails. Businesses say he is always a super nice and respectful person. Susan Kehoe at Browseabout Books said, "Whenever he comes in he's always super friendly he talks to everyone." Just a few words about the reputation Joe Biden has in the Nation's summer capital. Chad Miller at Pet Wants said, "I see him around town, obviously as you know I grew up here as well too so he's basically a staple here in Rehoboth Beach" But it adds some shock when his visits are not planned. It helps when he owns a house in North Shores, just a short drive to the center of the city. "He did show up unexpected as Vice President, " said Kehoe And another time two years ago when WRDE was at Browseabout Books for a Hoda Kotb booking signing. All of a sudden, in walks Joe and Jill Biden to surprise her. Catching everyone off guard, and bringing the NBC Today show host flowers. Browseabout Books says that Biden doesn't just make surprise visits to the businesses, he also likes to enjoy the little things like sitting on a bench out in front of the store. Kehoe said, "He likes to sit on the bench out in front of the store with his dogs just sitting on the bench you know in the aviators with the dogs and just being really gracious to everyone." Miller says about six weeks ago Biden showed up with Governor Carney and others with the state. He says the unexpected visit was to talk to businesses by the coast about how they've been impacted this year. He said, "They came in did a little shopping, talked to me for a little bit, not too much about politics but just gradual chit-chat." Miller says the crew spent over $600 after talking to him to support his business. The city says Biden has always been a nice face to see downtown. And if elected, hopes Rehoboth Beach could become a presidential retreat area. Since his nomination as the Democratic Presidential candidate there has been added security. Recently a Temporary Flight Restriction has placed for where ever he is.
